The History of Oregon Trail Brewery

Founded in 1987 by Jerry Shatomy, Oregon Trail Brewery was one of a small handful of pioneering craft breweries in Oregon that helped spark an American craft brewing renaissance. From 1988 until 2021, Oregon Trail Brewery was led by Dave Wills who guided the brewery through decades of craft brewing developments and also provided breweries and home brewers with Oregon grown hops through his organization “Fresh Hops.” Over the years, Oregon Trail’s small brewhouse has provided a training ground for many professional brewers to cut their teeth.

In 2021 brothers JD and Waylon Pickett (JD a former Oregon Trail brewer) took the helm to keep Oregon Trail blazing into the future. With a recently updated fermentation system, Oregon Trail beer is still made in one of the oldest brew kettles in use which was purchased from Hart Brewing (which became Pyramid). Located in the historic Old World Center, the brewery shares space with the Old World Deli, a live music venue and an important community gathering place where Oregon Trail beers have been enjoyed for 35 years. Come visit us at 341 SW 2nd St, Corvallis, OR 97333!
